To avoid misunderstandings, I declare in advance:
- I am not an extreme person
- My not drinking coffee does not mean I have any opinions about those who do
I hardly drink coffee, stemming from my beliefs. The most obvious effect of coffee is to refresh, and secondly, to show off. As for refreshing, I do not need it, and I also do not like to rely on "external forces" to keep myself awake. On the contrary, when I really need coffee to stay awake, I feel that it is precisely a reminder that I should take a good rest, put down my work, look out the window, and go for a walk.
As for showing off, I certainly do not need that. I used the word "hardly" because I do occasionally drink it, for example, as a beverage rather than as a tool to stay awake, to show off, or to go along with others.
Such beliefs influence many of my behaviors; for instance, many people like to place neck pillows on their car seats, but I do not, reasoning that I do not drive long distances regularly enough to need a neck pillow for comfort. If I really reach a point where my neck is uncomfortable, perhaps I should stop and rest. Of course, there is another reason: safety concerns. Many neck pillows only make you comfortable at the moment, but in a car accident, they may have the opposite effect and cause serious neck injuries.
